Teams

What are teams?

Teams let you collaborate with other Backdrop users by sharing archives and collections within a group. Every team member can access shared content, contribute new archives, and organize collections together. Teams are ideal for research groups, content teams, or any group that needs to collectively manage a knowledge base.

Creating a team

To create a team, navigate to the Teams section in Settings and choose a name for your team. Once created, you become the team owner with full administrative control. You can then invite members, manage permissions, and configure team-wide settings from the same page.

Inviting members

Invite members to your team by entering their email addresses. Each person must have a Backdrop account to accept the invitation. An invite email is sent with a link to join the team. Pending invitations can be revoked at any time. Members who accept appear in your team roster and gain access to shared content immediately.

Roles and permissions

Teams support different roles with varying access levels. Team owners have full control including the ability to manage members, change settings, and delete the team. Other roles can contribute content and manage shared archives and collections. Role permissions are designed to give flexibility while maintaining security.

Team limits

The number of teams you can create and the number of members per team depends on your plan. Some plans allow multiple teams with multiple members, while others have more restricted team capabilities. Check your plan details in the Billing section for specific limits.

Leaving a team

You can leave a team at any time from the Teams section in Settings. When you leave a team, you lose access to all shared archives and collections associated with that team. Your personal archives and content are not affected. If you are the only owner of a team, consider transferring ownership before leaving.
