Analytics

Usage overview

The Analytics page gives you a clear picture of your archiving activity over time. Charts and metrics show how many archives you have created, which formats you use most, and how your storage consumption is trending. This helps you understand your usage patterns and plan ahead if you need to upgrade your plan.

Analytics data is available from the moment you create your first archive and accumulates over the lifetime of your account.

What gets tracked

The analytics dashboard tracks several key metrics:

  • Archives created — the total number of pages archived, shown over time.
  • Formats used — a breakdown of how many HTML, PDF, screenshot, and readable copies have been generated.
  • Storage consumed — how much storage your archives, library files, and other content occupy.
  • Collections created — the growth of your organizational structure.
  • Annotations and entities — how many highlights, notes, and entity tags you have created.

These metrics are updated in real time as you add or remove content.

Time periods

You can view analytics data across different time periods to spot trends:

  • Day — a granular view of your activity for the past 24 hours.
  • Week — a seven-day view showing weekly patterns.
  • Month — a thirty-day overview for tracking monthly progress.
  • All time — the complete picture since you started using Backdrop.

Switching between time periods updates all charts and metrics on the page simultaneously.

Export

Depending on your plan, you may be able to export your analytics data. Exports provide your usage data in a downloadable format that you can analyze in spreadsheets or other tools. Check your plan details to see if analytics export is available.

Even without export access, all the information displayed on the analytics page is accessible in real time whenever you visit.
