Support & FAQ

Contacting support

If you need help with Backdrop, you can submit a support ticket from the Support tab in Settings. Choose the category that best matches your issue, provide a subject and a detailed description, and our team will get back to you. You can also view the status of your existing tickets and read responses from our team directly in the support interface.

Ticket categories

When submitting a ticket, you can choose from the following categories to help us route your request to the right team:

  • Billing — questions about charges, invoices, and payment methods
  • Refund — requests for a refund on recent payments
  • Account — issues with your account, login, or profile
  • Feature request — suggestions for new features or improvements
  • Bug report — report a technical issue or unexpected behavior
  • Data/Privacy — questions about your data, export, or privacy
  • Cancellation — help with canceling your subscription
  • Other — anything that does not fit the above categories

Response time

Our support team typically responds within 24 hours during regular business days. Complex issues may take longer as we investigate thoroughly. You will receive an email notification when your ticket is updated, so you do not need to keep checking back.

Can I export my data?

Yes. You can export all your Backdrop data from the Danger Zone section in Settings. The export includes your archives, collections, annotations, screenshots, and settings. Data is downloaded as a JSON file. This is useful for creating backups or migrating your content to another system.

What happens if I cancel?

If you cancel your paid subscription, your account reverts to the free plan at the end of your current billing period. All your archives and content remain accessible, and nothing is deleted. You will only be limited by the free plan's constraints. You can re-subscribe at any time to regain access to paid features.

Is my data private?

Yes. All archives are private by default. Only you can see them unless you choose to share them. You can make collections public to share content with others, or collaborate within private teams. You are in full control of what gets shared and with whom. We do not access your private archives.

Can I delete my data?

Yes, you can delete individual archives at any time from the Archives page, or delete your entire account from the Danger Zone in Settings. When you delete an archive, all its associated files (HTML, PDF, screenshot, readable text) are permanently removed. Account deletion removes all data permanently and cannot be undone.

Which browsers are supported?

The Backdrop browser extension supports Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave. The web application works in all modern browsers including Safari. For the best experience, we recommend using the latest version of your preferred browser.
