Storage

Storage overview

Your Backdrop storage includes all archived pages, screenshots, and library files associated with your account. You can view your current storage usage in the Settings page, where a breakdown shows how much space each content type is using. Storage is tracked in real time as you add or remove content.

What counts

The following content counts toward your storage usage:

  • Archived pages in all formats — HTML, PDF, readable text, and screenshots
  • Uploaded library files — images, videos, audio recordings, documents, and PDFs
  • Screenshots captured from the browser extension or dashboard

Storage limits

Each Backdrop plan includes a storage limit. The amount of storage available depends on your plan. You can check your plan's storage limit and your current usage from the Billing or Settings sections of your dashboard. A banner will appear when you are approaching your limit.

Storage addons

If you need more storage than your plan provides, you can purchase additional storage as an addon. Storage addons are available on paid plans and provide extra space that stacks on top of your base plan allocation. Purchased storage addons remain active as long as your subscription is active.

Managing storage

To free up storage space, review your archives and library files and delete anything you no longer need. You can delete individual archives from the Archives page, or remove uploaded files from the Library section. When you delete an archive, all associated files (HTML, PDF, screenshot, readable text) are removed from storage permanently.

Upgrading

Upgrading your Backdrop plan increases your storage limit. If you consistently need more space, upgrading may be more cost-effective than purchasing multiple storage addons. You can compare plan storage limits from the Billing page and upgrade at any time.
