Alternative to Pinboard
Modern bookmarking with rich archival features.
Archival snapshots meet organized collections.
Pinboard has been a reliable bookmarking service for years, but its archival capabilities are limited to basic cached copies — not full page preservation. Backdrop captures every page in four formats (HTML, PDF, screenshot, readable text), indexes everything for full-text search, and provides rich annotation tools for active research workflows.
Why users leave Pinboard
Primarily a bookmarking service — no actual page content is saved.
Archival snapshots are limited to a basic cached copy.
No multi-format capture options (PDF, screenshot, etc.).
No annotations or highlighting features.
Dated interface with limited organization capabilities.
